How they help your pet

  • CAUSES OF CAT AND DOG STRESS

Our pets can be affected by stress, just the same as us humans! Here are a few common causes of stress in cats and dogs:

Changes to their environment or home
Whether you're moving house, moving furniture around or doing a spot of decorating, our cats and dogs can be sensitive to changes in their home environment. This can also include having new visitors in the home too. For example, friends coming over to visit, or even the introduction of a new baby (furry, or otherwise)!

    Being given too much attention
Some cats and dogs want all the attention they can get, but others really enjoy having their personal space. If your pet prefers a bit more alone time, they can become stressed if they're on the receiving end of too much attention. This can include being followed, excessively stroked or cuddled. All children should be closely monitored when spending time with cats and dogs to make sure they don't go OTT. It's great to get them into the habit at an early age of respecting your pet's boundaries.

    Holiday separation
Taking your pet on your travels isn’t always an option, but holiday separation can be a real issue for some pets, particularly for cats. Itch Calm Treats can help support cats and dogs to feel safe and relaxed when you’re away, helping to reduce signs of stress and anxiety.

    Fireworks
As we all know, this isn’t just an issue on Bonfire Night. They can go off all year round with various celebrations taking place, although the main season can extend from October through to New Year. It’s not uncommon for dogs and cats to find the sight and sound of fireworks distressing.

    Threats to their territory
Is there a new puss on the prowl in your neighbourhood? Or some imposter weeing on your pooch's favourite patch of grass? Our pets can be very protective over their home turf and the presence of a new dog or cat in their space can be unsettling. This may trigger a fight or flight response which is linked with heightened levels of anxiety.

    Visits to the vet
From puffed up cats mewling from their baskets to dogs with their tails between their legs, the sights and smells of the vet's is enough to make any pet feel anxious. It could also have something to do with where the vet puts the thermometer...

  • HOW ITCH CALM TREATS HELP TO CALM DOGS AND CATS

Here are some of the ways Itch Calm Treats can help your pet to chill:

    Relaxation-inducing ingredients
Our treats contain lavender and camomile for a double-whammy of chillax. Lavender is a natural calming ingredient which is renowned for its relaxation-inducing properties. Camomile helps to reduce inflammation and soothe away stress.

    Natural stress-relief
We only use natural, calming ingredients which have a gentle, soothing effect. Nothing harsh and definitely no sedatives. Just a gentle nudge in the right direction to take your pet from stressed to serene. Ommmmm.

    Rewarding good behaviour
By rewarding your pet when they demonstrate positive behaviours, you're essentially saying "More of this, please!".The more your pet gets used to being rewarded for good, calm behaviour, the more it will come naturally to them. Add in a calming treat here and there and you'll have a zen-like pet in no time at all.

FAQs

  • HOW BIG ARE ITCH CALM TREATS?

Our dog treats are 15.5mm & our cat treats are 10mm.

  • ARE YOUR TREATS GRAIN FREE?

Here at Itch HQ, we know that grains can cause upset tums in some pets. Itch Calm Treats are grain free so they can be enjoyed by as many pups as possible!

  • HOW MANY ITCH CALM TREATS CAN I GIVE MY PET PER DAY?

Our treats are complementary and should be given in moderation alongside a normal complete diet. It’s great to get into the habit of regularly monitoring your pet’s weight. This will help you to make sure they stay within a healthy range and tweak their calorie intake if needed. As always, make sure fresh drinking water is always available for your pet to enjoy alongside their treats.

  • ARE ITCH CALM TREATS SUITABLE FOR CATS AND DOGS?

Yes, absolutely! Treat your cat or dog to these nibbles for a fully reclined feline or a cool, calm and collected canine.

  • ARE THE POUCHES RECYCLABLE?

We’re proud to say that our new and improved pouches are 100% recyclable, ink included! They can be recycled at large supermarkets, or check your local council for kerbside recycling. Head to the Recycle Now site to find your closest recycling point.

This means, with your help, we'll be reducing the enormous amount of packaging that ends up where it shouldn't - in landfill, our environment and our oceans.

When the pouch is empty, simply wash it out and pop it along to your local large store, where they can be recycled along with other bags. Find your nearest here

You might not see this change immediately. We're reducing food and packaging waste by introducing the new pouches over the next few months. When you receive one, please do let us know what you think.

  • IS THE DELIVERY PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?

Your goodies will arrive either in a cardboard box which can be recycled at home and is made of recycled materials or our brand-new mailer bags which are made from Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and contain recycled materials. They’re fully recyclable, waterproof, strong, and of course – still personalised!

Our new bags are much smaller in size and weight than the cardboard boxes which means that we can fit more packages in our courier’s lorries. This means they have a more efficient  journey to your doorstep, reducing our carbon footprint as well as consumer waste. You can recycle them at your local supermarket - find your nearest here

  • WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BUILDING A PET WELLNESS PLAN?

Our pet wellness plans are tailored to your pet’s unique needs! After answering a few short questions about your pet, we’ll be able to recommend a personalised plan packed full of vet-approved products to keep your furry friend in tip-top shape.
