How Itch Wormer Treatment for Cats works

  • WORM TABLET INGREDIENTS

    Double-Action Worming Tablets
    Praziquantel, Pyrantel Embonate.

This blend of powerful ingredients kills roundworms and tapeworms by paralysing the worms in your cat’s gut. This means they can quickly and easily be evicted from your cat via their poo (lovely!).

  • WHERE DO WORMS COME FROM?

Most gastrointestinal (GI) worms in cats will squirm their way in when your cat accidentally eats worm eggs or larvae. "How would a cat even eat worm eggs?", we hear you ask! Well, it's pretty gross, but it's usually because they’ve ingested the faeces of another animal which had worms living in its gut.

Many GI worm eggs aren't infective straight away after being passed in poo. It can take a little bit of time - and that's why it's SO IMPORTANT to clear up your cat's poo. It's vital to help reduce the level of infection - and cut those pesky parasites off before they have the chance to infect new pets (or people - yep, we’re not safe from them either).

We’re sure this goes without saying, but always wash your hands after clearing up your cat's poo…

  • WHAT ARE THE MAIN TYPES OF WORMS THAT CAN AFFECT CATS AND HOW?

There are 2 main types of gastrointestinal worms which pose a risk to cats in the UK - roundworm and tapeworm.

Roundworms are the most common type of parasitic worm found in cats in the UK. These worms are long and white in appearance and steal nutrients from their host (your kitty - gulp). While the initial infection starts in their GI tract, roundworms can work their way into your cat’s other tissues and organs.

Tapeworms are long and flat in appearance. These parasites live in the small intestine and latch onto the intestinal wall, absorbing nutrients as your cat is digesting their food. When these worms are excreted, the body of the worm can break into segments that resemble grains of rice.

  • HOW TO TELL IF YOUR CAT HAS WORMS

Symptoms of worm infestation in your cat can include abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, weight loss, dull or lifeless fur, and sometimes even anaemia. In kittens, large numbers of worms can even cause blockages on their insides, which sadly can be fatal.

There are often no early signs of worms in cats whatsoever. They could be setting up camp in your cat's guts and you wouldn't have a clue until it was possibly too late - scary stuff, right?

Worms can be a threat to people as well as cats - especially young children or those with a weakened immune system. One worm in particular you don't want a child crossing paths with is Toxocara - if infected, this can cause serious health conditions such as blindness and epilepsy.

Stop the wrigglers taking hold with a regular dose of dewormer! Itch Wormer worming tablets for cats keep your kitty and your family safe.

  • HOW TO GET RID OF WORMS IN CATS (AND PREVENT THEM COMING BACK)

The best way to keep yourself, your family and your cat safe from worms? Give your kitty a regular dose of dewormer! We can recommend the most effective frequency of worm treatment for your cat depending on what you tell us about their habits and lifestyle.

PSA: Did you know your kitty can get worms from fleas? That’s right, your cat could accidentally swallow a flea mid-grooming sesh and if that blighter is carrying tapeworm larvae, they’ll be in your bestie’s guts and multiplying before you know it.

Itch Wormer worming tablets for cats kills common GI worms and can be given directly into the mouth or in a small amount of food.

Never give your cat's wormer to any other pets - the dosage could be incorrect for them, leaving them at risk from all kinds of nasty illnesses.

FAQs

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DEWORM MY CAT?

The best way to keep yourself, your family and your cat safe is to give your puss a regular dose of Itch Wormer! Monthly wormer treatment is recommended for cats who love the outdoors or eat raw food because they're much more likely to get worms. Children under 4 and the immunosuppressed are in danger from a cat with worms, so monthly treatment is also recommended here. All other cats will be recommended a quarterly wormer treatment programme.

  • HOW CAN I GET MY CAT TO TAKE THEIR WORMING TABLET?

Our cat wormer comes in tablet form and can be given whole or crushed, with or without food. As cat parents ourselves, we know the tricky realities of getting anywhere near your puss with that round tablet. To make life easier, we recommend crushing with the back of a spoon to a fine powder and then sprinkling over food.

  • IS ITCH WORMER SUITABLE FOR KITTENS?

Itch Wormer is suitable for kittens over 8 weeks old who weigh 1kg or more.

  • Are Itch Wormer Tablets Suitable For Any Cat Breed?

Itch Wormer tablets are suitable for all cat breeds, from A for American Shorthair to B for Bengal and throughout the rest of the alphabet. Just provide us your kitty's weight and breed after you've clicked "Get Started" and we'll tailor the right worming dose for them.

So, whether it’s your Maine Coon, Persian, Siamese, Russian Blue, or any other breed of cat that you want to protect from worms, Itch worm treatment for cats is suitable for yours.

  • CAN I USE ITCH WORMER WHEN MY CAT IS PREGNANT?

We advise against giving cat worming medication during pregnancy or when your cat is lactating, as it can be passed through to the kittens via mum’s milk. We recommend speaking to your vet if you have any concerns about worms in your pregnant or lactating cat.

  • CAN ITCH WORMER BE TAKEN ALONGSIDE OTHER MEDICATIONS?

Our cat worming tablets contain a powerful blend of Praziquantel and Pyrantel Embonate to kill all common intestinal worms and prevent newly hatched larvae from growing and multiplying.

We recommend not to use this product alongside Piperazine, which may be found in other worming products. Please speak to your vet before combining Itch Wormer with any other medications.

  • CAN I ALSO ADD FLEA TREATMENT TO THIS PLAN?

Absolutely! Once you get started, we’ll make recommendations for your cat’s personalised wellness plan. This will include Itch Flea. Given in combo with Itch Wormer, this will give your puss total parasite protection against fleas, ticks, worms AND lice.

  • IS YOUR PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?

Itch Wormer comes in a recyclable box which can be disposed of in your home recycling bin. The blister for Itch Wormer isn’t currently recyclable (but we’re working on it).

Your goodies will arrive either in a cardboard box which can be recycled at home and is made of recycled materials or our brand-new mailer bags which are made from Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and contain recycled materials. They’re fully recyclable, waterproof, strong, and of course – still personalised!

This means they have a more efficient  journey to your doorstep, reducing our carbon footprint as well as consumer waste. You can recycle them at your local supermarket - find your nearest here
