WHY CHOOSE WOOD-BASED CAT LITTER
There are three main types of cat litter: wood, silica and clay. Pick of the Litter is a wood-based cat litter. Here are a few benefits of using wood pellets:
Wood-based litter is more environmentally-friendly than other types of litter
Wood pellets help to reduce litter tray odours and tend to last longer between litter changes
Wood-based litter produces less dust so it can be a good option for any cat parents with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
There’s less tracking (your cat's paws leaving a trail of dust after they've done their business).
CLUMPING VS NON-CLUMPING LITTER
Cat litter comes in two varieties: clumping and non-clumping.
Clumping cat litterClumping cat litter does what it says on the tin! After your cat does their business, any soiled litter will clump together, making it easy to scoop out. The most popular material for clumping cat litter is clay. The majority of natural litters don’t have the ability to clump, so if you’re after an eco-friendly litter, you may be better off using a non-clumping cat litter.
Non-clumping cat litter Non-clumping cat litter has a few advantages over clumping cat litter. It tends to be more lightweight, produces less dust and reduces tracking (your puss leaving a dusty trail after leaving their litter tray). Non-clumping litters are also typically more cost-effective.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE YOUR CAT’S LITTER?
Give your puss the best throne in town! Do a daily spot-check to scoop out any poops. You might want to do this more regularly if they've let off a real stink bomb. Replace all of their litter at least once a week to keep things fresh.
WHAT TYPE OF LITTER TRAY SHOULD I CHOOSE?
There are lots of options when it comes to choosing a litter tray! The main types are covered litter trays and open litter trays.
Covered litter traysThese are ideal for giving your cat a little more privacy during toilet time. Some of these trays have a cat flap on the front which can be helpful for reducing smells. They're less convenient when it comes to getting rid of poop as you'll need to unclip the lid before scooping. However, they're ideal for containing litter when your puss insists on 'burying' their latest turd.
Open litter traysIt's super quick and easy to scoop up poops from an open litter tray - no faffing around unclipping and reclipping a lid. Because of the simple design, they can be easier to clean as well. On the downside, you might end up with some litter being kicked out of the tray. Without a lid, there's no shield between cat poo and the air, so things could get stinky. The contents of your cat's tray will also be on show to anyone walking past.

HOW DO I DISPOSE OF PICK OF THE LITTER?
Make sure to cover the bottom of your cat litter tray with approximately 2-5cm of our stink-absorbing, non-clumping pellets. Use a cat litter scoop to remove any soiled pellets on a daily basis and replace with fresh pellets as necessary and you can rest assured that all nasty niffs will be banished for good. You can dispose of soiled pellets in a sealed bag along with appropriate household waste.
Feline like a compost warrior? Well, we’re here to help! The pellets are non-clumping and 100% biodegradable so all you have to do is remove your cat’s poop and add to your home compost. Please ensure that you only use compost for non-edible plants, because, well.. No human wants to eat that (we hope!).
Also, don’t forget to change the contents of your cat’s litter tray completely each month and wash using a mild detergent.
IS IT SAFE TO USE IF PREGNANT?
For safety purposes, we recommend that pregnant mothers and mothers with small children always use rubber gloves when handling litter trays and to avoid direct contact with the soiled litter! Dads, this may be the perfect chance to practise disposing of poop before the baby arrives.. Mums - you’re welcome!
HOW SHOULD I INTRODUCE A NEW LITTER?
Allow your furry-sidekick to adjust to Pick of the Litter by simply sprinkling a small amount of your usual cat litter over the new pellets and say fur-well to those nasty niffs for good.
WHAT IS YOUR LITTER MADE FROM?
Pick of the Litter is made using non-clumping 100% recycled wood pellets - no new trees were harmed in disposing of your cat poop!
