What are whipworms?

Whipworms are intestinal parasites that commonly infect dogs but are rare in cats. They live in the large intestine and cecum, where they attach to the lining and feed on blood and tissue fluids.

How can my dog get whipworms?

Pets become infected by ingesting whipworm eggs from contaminated soil, water, or faeces. Symptoms may include chronic diarrhoea, weight loss, dehydration, anemia, and a poor coat, though some pets show no obvious signs.

How can I treat whipworm in my dog?

Whipworm eggs are very hardy and can survive in the environment for years. Diagnosis requires a faecal exam, and treatment involves vet-strength deworming medications, like Itch Wormer Tablets for Dogs. Alongside treatment, good sanitation will help protect your pet and family from worms.
