What is flea dirt?

Flea dirt is the faeces of fleas, consisting mostly of digested blood. It appears as tiny black or dark brown specks on a pet’s skin, often resembling ground pepper. When moistened, flea dirt turns reddish due to the blood content. Its presence is a strong sign of a flea infestation.
